About the MHCC

The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental illness.

Established in 2007, the MHCC grew out of the report “Out of the Shadows,” the culmination of several years of work by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology. Members of CACP and the policing community had the opportunity to participate in the consultations that lead to this report and the establishment of the MHCC (Click for More Information) and have subsequently remained involved in the MHCC.
